Love of Reading: Holidays and Current Events: Black History Stories, Women’s History Stories, Poetry Month and American Library Association Youth Media Awards: 

  • John Newbery Medal for most outstanding contribution to children’s literature  

  • Randolph Caldecott Medal for most distinguished picture book for children  

  • Coretta Scott King Book Awards recognizing African American author and illustrators for outstanding books for children 

  • Schneider Family Book Award for books that embody an artistic expression of the disability experience

  • Mildred L. Batchelder Award for an outstanding children’s book originally published in a language other than English

  • Pura Belpre Awards honoring a Latinx writer and illustrator whose children’s books best portray, affirm and celebrate the Latino cultural experience

  • Robert F. Sibert Informational Award for most distinguished book for children

  • Theodor Seuss Geisel Award for most distinguished beginning reader book
